Edward Matthew Murphy, 65, of Salt Point, NY, passed away peacefully at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck on April 14, 2025. He was born on September 16, 1959, in Brooklyn, NY, to Edward and Veronica "Pat" (Pryce) Murphy.
Edward was a cherished son, brother, and friend. He was known for his love of music, dance, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
Edward was a devoted fan of Michael Jackson. He delighted in dancing and listening to his favorite tunes, especially "Thriller". Growing up, he enjoyed playing basketball. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a life-long NY Knicks fan. Edward developed a lifelong appreciation for cartoons, particularly the antics of Tom & Jerry. His adoration for musical shows and Disney movies brought him immense joy and connected him with loved ones and friends who shared those experiences.
Edward's family was especially grateful for the friendships he formed through the Greystone Program. He loved attending dances at the Anderson Center. He held a special place in his heart for the residents and caretakers at the Salt Point House, sharing laughter and warmth that will not be forgotten. Edward's love for his family was evident in every interaction, particularly with his beloved mother, Pat, and sister, Christine Murphy-Frost.
Edward was preceded in death by his father, Edward Murphy and brother-in-law, Russell Frost.
In honor of Edward's life and legacy, a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY on April 25, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. Following the mass, a burial service will take place at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
Edward will forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of those who love him. His spirit will continue to inspire laughter, love, and dance in those who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we remember Edward, let us celebrate the beautiful, loving person he was, honoring the memories that will live on in our hearts.
