WAPPINGERS FALLS – Edward M. Neumar, 90, an area resident since 1966 and formerly of College Point, Queens and Derry, NH, died on November 13, 2023 at the Lutheran Care Center.
Born in Flushing on December 22, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Konzot) Neumar. Edward proudly served our country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a Quality Engineer for IBM in Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill, and was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church and enjoyed golfing. In his younger days, he was a standout baseball player as both a pitcher and catcher. For many years he coached Town of Wappingers baseball and CYO basketball.
On August 18, 1956 in the Bronx, Edward married Nannette Fitzpatrick who predeceased him on January 7, 2021 after 64 years of marriage.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Dianne Marvin, Michael and Diane Neumar, and Terry and Bert Martino; his grandchildren, Kevin, Megan, Harley and Thomas; his great-grandchildren, Alex, Declan, and Cameron; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also predeceased by his siblings, John Neumar and Mary Leary and his son-in-law, Chris Marvin.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 29, from 9-11am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
