Edward J. O'Connell, a long-time resident of Wappingers Falls, NY passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2022. He was 59.
Edward was born in the Bronx, NY on March 1, 1963, the son of Patrick and Noreen (Broderick) O'Connell.
Edward was a Truck Driver throughout the years and enjoyed spending time out on the open road. He also owned and operated his own landscaping business, E&E Landscaping for several years.
A true Irishman, he was very proud of his Irish Heritage and spent many summers in Athea, Ireland with his family. He enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, cooking and especially loved making Irish soda bread every year for St. Patrick's Day. He was an excellent bowler and was part of a local bowling league. He was an avid skier, loved playing cards with his friends, enjoyed taking a chance at the casino,favored fast sports cars and liked watching the NASCAR races. Edward enjoyed gardening and took great pride in the beautiful rose garden he recently planted for his wife, Eileen. He was very proud of his most recent purchase, a Ford Shelby Mustang, signed by Shelby himself.
Edward loved attending concerts and had been doing so since the age of 15. He loved everything from Opera to Ozzy! He loved Broadway with Phantom of the Opera being his favorite play. He saw his 1st opera at the Botanical Gardens when he was just 1 years old. He enjoyed watching movies, with James Bond and The Godfather being two of his favorites. He was also a huge fan of the series, Yellowstone. He loved to scare people, enjoyed golfing, attending sporting events and was a huge Jets and Mets fan! He enjoyed an ice cold St. Pauli Girl poolside whenever he had the chance. He loved feeding and watching the birds and loved observing all types of wild-life. He was passionate about the 4th of July and enjoyed putting on many extravagant firework displays. He treasured time spent with his wife and children while reminiscing about his younger days. Edward loved visiting Paris, hearing the Bells of Notre Dame and enjoyed taking trips along the Seine River.
Edward is survived by his loving and caring wife Eileen, his two sons, Dillon and Liam, his Mother Noreen, Brother Thomas O'Connell and his wife Dawn, Sisters Patricia O'Connell and Maura Leonetti and her husband Christopher, several Nieces and Nephews and his two cats Fiona and Bella.
Edward is predeceased by his father Patrick and his four-legged best friend, his Dog Corky.
Calling hours will be Tuesday March 15, 2022, from 4pm-8pm at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday March 16, 2022, at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY.
