Obituary

Edward Brian Shook, 61, a lifelong local resident, died at home surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, April 25, 2010.
He retired as foreman for the Town of LaGrange Highway Department after nearly 18 years of service. An avid motorcyclist, Edward was also a very talented musician and performed with many fife and drum groups including O.H. Booth Hose Fife & Drum Corps. His talent led him to serve as an instructor for the Beekman Fife & Drum Corps and the Fusileers Fife & Drum Corps. He was a Civil War re-enactor and organized the Confederate Field Music Fife & Drum Corps, and was also affiliated with the Regulators Fife & Drum Corps.
Born in Poughkeepsie on August 16, 1948, he was son of the late Donald Milo and Doris Mae Bunten Shook. On June 27, 1970, he married the love of his life, Ruth Ireland, in Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Shook survives at home. Edward was a wonderful father and grandfather and is also survived by his son, Donald Shook & his wife Michelle of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Rebecca Wright of Raleigh, NC; his son, Edward Shook of LaGrange; his grandchildren, Howard, Charlie, Lauren and Evan; his siblings, Eileen Daniels & her husband Arthur of LaGrangeville, Gary Shook & his wife Cynthia of LaGrangeville, Allen Shook & his wife Dawn of California, and Doris Vitale & her husband Salvatore of Maryland; his sister-in-law Linda Parrinello & her husband Manny of Florida; his brother-in-law Paul Ireland of Florida; Also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The graveside service will be held on Thursday at noon at the Verbank Cemetery in Union Vale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Scleroderma Foundation or American Cancer Society.
