Beekman – Edward (Eddie) Francis Vesey, 79, an area resident for 46 years and formerly of Scarsdale, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after battling a long illness.
Born in Manhattan on July 2, 1944, he was the son of the late Frank and Catherine (O'Hara) Vesey. Eddie had been employed as a Service Technician with Automatic Door Systems until his retirement. After his retirement, Eddie enjoyed his part time job at the Home Depot helping and chatting to his regular customers from the community. He was a parishioner of St Columba Church. When his children were younger, Eddie was actively involved with the Town of Wappinger Little League Program. Eddie, a simple man, enjoyed fishing and listening to his favorite country music songs. His home was his happy place where he enjoyed working on his yard or searching for his next home improvement project. An avid sports fan, his favorite teams included the New York Yankees, Rangers, and Giants. He loved spending time with his grandkids and his family.
On November 26, 1966, at Sacred Heart in the Bronx, Eddie married the love of his life, Kathleen Shackel, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses Kevin and Geriann Vesey, Karin and John Scrocca, Joseph Vesey and Daniel Lodato, Kathleen and Christopher Lynch; his grandchildren, Julia, Jake, Joseph, Taylor, Madison, Christopher, Lily, Mason and Landon; his brother, Marty Vesey and his wife Cathy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Michael Vesey; and his brother, Jackie Vesey.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 9:45am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
