Edward Francis Winters, 85, an area resident for 50 years and formerly of the Bronx, died on October 19, 2022 following a long illness.
Born in the Bronx on December 23, 1936, he was the son of Lawrence and Anna (Wilson) Winters. Ed had been a dispatcher for the NYC Transit Authority and a part time school bus driver in Wappingers School District, retiring from both after thirty years. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church for fifty years. Ed was a great father and friend, who loved to golf, dance, travel, ride his motorcycle, spending time with family, and sharing laughs with his friends.
On June 27, 1959 at Holy Family Church in the Bronx, Edward married the love of his life, Regina Murphy, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Denise Winters McCauley and her husband Richard McCauley, Keith and Mary Winters, Renee and Jeff Thalrose, Valerie and George McDonald, William and Lupita Winters, and Craig and Shelly Winters; his son-in-law, Joe Carozza; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Andrea Carozza.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial in St. Denis Cemetery.
