Obituary

Edwin R. Vazquez, 62, died on September 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Eddie, "The Man. The Myth. The Legend", was born on July 21, 1961 in New York City to Angel Vazquez and the late Hilda Cotto Vazquez. He lived in Puerto Rico throughout his childhood, moved back to New York in early adulthood and has been a resident of Beekman since 1986. On October 3, 1987 Eddie married the love of his life, Linda Vosmus, who survives at home. In addition to his wife and father, he is also survived by his children, Alejandro Vazquez, Angelina Bueti and her husband Peter, Jon-James Vazquez, and Tessa Vazquez; his grandson, Peter Bueti, who lovingly called him "Baba"; his siblings and their spouses, Ivan and Nancy Vazquez, and Sandra and Chris Tuminello, and James Vosmus; many nieces and nephews, and one great-nephew.

Eddie worked full-time as an Architect with Aufgang Associates in Suffern, but was also very involved in the Town of Beekman Community. He coached baseball for the Beekman Athletic Club and was a Leader for Boy Scout Pack 77. He was a life member and former rescue squad captain of the Beekman Fire Department and a long-time active member of the Beekman Fire Auxiliary. He also worked part-time as an EMT and CPR instructor for various local EMS companies. Eddie was best known as the Town of Beekman's "Santa Claus" and was recently recognized through a blood drive held in his honor, where a record 76 pints of blood were collected.

Eddie will be forever remembered for his passion for music, especially rock and roll, his "young-at-heart" sense of humor, and his welcoming nature.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a firematic service at 7:30pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.

Memorial donations in his honor may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (www.mskcc.org) or EV Rocks, Inc. (www.evrocks.org), a not-for-profit organization that was started by Eddie's daughter to provide aid to cancer patients in their time of need.
