Eileen A. Kennedy, a resident of the Town of Fishkill since 1975, formerly of New York City, died at home on Thursday, June 25, 2015. She was 67.
Daughter of the late John D. and Rita O'Brien, she was born in Manhattan on December 20, 1947.
Eileen dedicated her career to nursing, and she graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing. She worked at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan for more than 30 years. The last 10 years of her career, she worked at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Her nursing career focused on the neonatal intensive care units at both hospitals. Eileen found great reward in her profession, especially in her ability to help and care for infant children and their families.
On January 11, 1969, she married John Kennedy at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Manhattan. Mr. Kennedy survives at home.
She is also survived by her daughter, Kerry Sullivan & her husband Michael of Whitesboro, NY; her son, Brian Kennedy & his wife Jean-Marie Baumann of Fishkill; her son, Patrick Kennedy of Pouhgkeepsie; and her grandchildren, Michael Sullivan, Reyna Baumann, and Riley Kennedy. She is also survived by many other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 29th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.
