Eileen M. Hoyt-Mahan, 89, died peacefully on March 15, 2019 at her home with her daughter Maureen at her side.
Born in Yonkers on September 8, 1929, she was the daughter of Gilbert A. and Frances L. (Hughes) Hoyt. She was proud of her Irish heritage and with her strong faith in God, she was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers where her mother was raised. She was an avid Mets fan and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crewel embroidery, and bowling. She loved reading the newspaper everyday. Eileen had served as the Registrar of Vital Statistics for the City of Yonkers for many years.
Eileen is survived by her daughters, Eileen Dougherty and her husband Kevin, and Maureen Mahan, her partner Donald Benjamin and their dogs Bengie & Bernie; her grandchildren, Bryan, Kaitlyn, and Patrick; and her niece, Susan Hoyt-Ponte and her husband Gary and their children Kristin (Jonathon) Doyle, Andrew and Ryan. In addition to her parents, Eileen was also predeceased by her beloved brother, Gilbert A. Hoyt Jr.; her sister-in-law Elizabeth A. Hoyt-Meechan, and her niece Elizabeth A. Hoyt-Curran.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 30, at 11am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers at a later date.
