Obituary

Eileen P. Van Buren Scoppa, 71, a lifelong area resident, died at her home on April 19, 2024.

Born in Beacon on December 26, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Agnes (Pelicon) Van Buren. Eileen was employed as a Supervisor for the Dutchess County Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 2009 after more than 30 years of service. She had previously worked for the Beacon City School District for 5 years.

Eileen enjoyed sewing, reading, antiquing, sharing lunches, and vacations with her sisters. She was well known for Eileen's Famous Cheesecakes.

Eileen is survived by her stepdaughter, Fran Campbell of Florida; her stepson, Phillip Scoppa of North Carolina; her twin brother, Thomas Van Buren and his wife Debra of Glenham; her brothers, Steven Van Buren and his partner Diane Hedrick of Fishkill, James Van Buren and his wife Erin of Beacon; her sisters and their spouses, Kathleen and Kenneth Ward of Poughkeepsie, Marie Bai of Billings, Patricia and Dennis Hartnett of Hyde Park, Paula and Tad Uzzle of Wappingers Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews, and several step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Richard Van Buren.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm There will be a funeral service at 6:30pm. Interment will be private at the family plot in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
