Obituary

Eileen (Piper) Stocker, 89, was called home peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2013.
She was born on October 9, 1923 in Norridgewock, ME, the daughter of Linwood A. and Elsie Savage Piper. She graduated from high school in Bath, ME, class of 1940 and worked as a Civil Service clerk typist during World War II at Houlton, ME and later at Ft. Totten, NY.
As a 66 year resident of Wappingers Falls, Eileen was an active leader of the Girl Scouts and Neighborhood Chairman. She was a 62 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls, serving over 50 years with the International Order of King's Daughters and Sons. She was a member of Ruth Heald Cragin Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, North Anson Maine and an avid genealogist and member of the Dutchess County Genealogical Society, Maine Genealogical Society and other historical societies of Maine. She enjoyed many summers at her cottage on Embden Pond in Maine where she was a member of the Embden Pond Lake Association and served as secretary for many years.
Eileen is survived by her husband of 66 years, Russell Stocker, Jr.; her five children: Sandra R. Ferguson and husband Donald, of Torrington CT; Russell S. Stocker, III and wife Kathleen, of Lexington, SC.; Mary E. Stephenson and husband Mark of Jericho, VT.; Laura J. Stocker of Hopewell Junction, NY; and Janet L. Bartow and husband John of Adams Center, NY; her sister, Beverly Peck of Embden, ME; and brother, Charles Piper of Sarasota, FL. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls, 2568 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Lindsay Borden officiating.
