Eleanor
Macrillo
June 8, 1931 – June 17, 2025
Eleanor Macrillo, a resident of Fishkill, NY, passed away on June 17, 2025. She was 94 years old.
Eleanor was born on June 8, 1931 in Peekskill, NY, the daughter David and Loretta (Emig) Barry.
Eleanor graduated in 1949 from the Mary Immaculate School in Ossining, NY. As the daughter of a Peekskill Banking executive with the County Trust Company, Eleanor inherited the same financial acumen as her father. In her yearbook, her classmates said they would try to "imagine her not counting money". It was pointed out that her theme song was "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" possibly as her father had also been a local amateur baseball player. Her classmates noted that "without Eleanor's pecuniary advice the senior class could never had endured financially." It went on to say, "vitality, friendliness, and loyalty are the virtues which she will take with her into the business world." And as it turned out, also into life.
Eleanor went on to attend and graduate from Pace College, NY, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1953. While there, she served as the president of the Barclay House, one of twelve houses of the House Plan Association of Pace College, which was a student association formed "to promote and further social, cultural, and academic relations among students, faculty, and alumni". After graduation, she became an accountant with the Rockefeller Foundation for Medical Research in New York.
Soon after, Eleanor was introduced by mutual friends to Vincent Macrillo , then serving in the United States Navy. Vincent and Eleanor married on November 12, 1955, at the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill, New York. Shortly after, Vincent and Eleanor moved to Dutchess County, NY. There Vincent began in 1956 his career with IBM and together he and Eleanor started their immediate family that would eventually grow to five children: Christopher, Philip, Loretta, Mark and Thomas. Their marriage would last 66 years and would provide the foundation for Eleanor's greatest legacy.
A devoted wife and mother, it's impossible to sum up all of Eleanor's gifts to her family over the years. The family never did without even when she did. Her love provided for the good times and helped get the family through the tough times. As the family grew, so did her love and dedication. In addition to the love that the family returned, Eleanor's devotion to the Blessed Mother gave her the strength to see life's challenges through. In the end, Eleanor ended her journey peacefully at home with her family.
Eleanor is survived by her children: V. Christopher Macrillo , Philip (Rebecca) Macrillo, Loretta (Terence) Walsh, Mark Macrillo, and Thomas Macrillo; her grandchildren: Megan (Nicholas) Spaccarelli , Caitlin (John) Turchioe, Marcus, Samantha, Karlina, Carter and Alan Macrillo and Conor Walsh; great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madison, Sloane, Cora, Vincent, Lincoln and Forrest; brother-in-law Robert (Elaine) Macrillo; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, her husband Vincent, brother Edward, brother David and his wife Theresa, niece Linda Groccia, daughter-in-law Ann Macrillo, father and mother-in-law Joseph and Angelina (Ratta) Macrillo; sisters-in-law Mary (Vincent) DiGironimo , Catherine (John) Vosnak , Rose (John) Gallello and Josephine (John) Russo, and her nephew Johnny Russo.
