YONKERS – Eleanor Ann Yacko-Nader, 79, died on October 22, 2019 after a brief illness at Westchester Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Yonkers.
Born in Yonkers on February 7, 1940, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Yacko. She was employed as a Nurses Aid at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers until her retirement.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Michael Robert Carroll; her daughter-in-law, Lorie Ann Carroll; her grandchildren, Shannon Marie Carroll, Michael R. Carroll Jr., Joseph Hart, Michael Hart, Eddie Hart, and Daniel Carroll; her 5 great-grandchildren, Shyairah Hart, Mylia Hart, Kalie Hart, Kyleigh Hart and Carson Hart; and her niece, Deby Sedlor. Eleanor also leaves many friends and family members who will significantly miss her. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was also predeceased by her husband, Joseph Nader; her daughter, Madeline Hart; her sister Rita Stephens; her brothers, Carl Yacko, Butch Yacko, Raymond Yacko, Phillip Yacko, and Vinny Yacko; and her nieces Donna Hecht, Doreen Diamond, and Denise Stephens.
As the wife of a Veteran, Eleanor was dedicated to volunteering tireless hours for many veteran organizations. She was also a member of the Yonkers Senior Center in Prescott Park. Eleanor was a lifelong parishioner at Holy Trinity Church. Eleanor enjoyed sudoku and took great pleasure in crocheting and knitting items to give to her loved ones or to donate to veterans and children’s hospitals. She adored nature, animals, and photographing memorable moments. Eleanor’s strength, devotion, and love will be tremendously missed.
