Elizabeth Ann Bonanno, 70, a resident of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Somers and Ardsley, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Regional Hospice and Home Care Center in Danbury, CT after a year long battle with cancer.
Born on July 24, 1944 in the Bronx, she was the daughter of Charles and Mildred Young. After graduating from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx in 1962, Elizabeth became a professional dancer, including dancing on both the Ed Sullivan and Johnny Carson shows. On June 17, 1967, she married Thomas Bonanno in the Bronx.
Elizabeth worked as a secretary to the principal and the guidance counselors at Ardsley High School, as well as a secretary for the superintendent at Greenburgh Central 7 District, for over 20 years until her retirement in 2002. Post retirement, she became a real estate broker for Coldwell Banker in Somers. Elizabeth wintered in Scottsdale AZ. She was a parishioner of St. Denis Church.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, she is survived by her children, Mark and his wife Diana of Ridgefield, CT, John and his wife Alexandra of Tuckahoe, Thomas and his wife Stacy of Clinton Corners, Vincent and his wife Birgit of Hyde Park; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Rachel, Daniella and Anthony; her sister, Charlotte Young of Carmel; her nephew, Chad Young; her sister-in-law, Gerry Stevenson; her brother-in-law John Bonanno and his wife Nancy; and her niece Dana Bonanno.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
