Elizabeth Marie Joyce

Elizabeth Joyce, 86, born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 19, 1940, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2026. A brilliant educator, accomplished administrator, devoted mother, and loving grandmother, Elizabeth lived a life filled with purpose, laughter, and love. 
 
Elizabeth began her distinguished career as a mathematics and calculus teacher before becoming Superintendent for Administration and Business at BOCES. Her passion for education and dedication to excellence left a lasting impression on countless students and colleagues. Her legacy in education continues through her daughter, who proudly followed in her footsteps into school business administration. 
 
Following retirement, Elizabeth's greatest joy was spending time with her two beloved granddaughters. Whether playing math games, sharing laughter, or encouraging their curiosity, she instilled in them the same lifelong love of learning that defined her own life. 
 
Feisty, funny, quick-witted, and always dressed to the nines, Elizabeth was truly one of a kind. She loved to laugh, had an unmistakable sense of style, and brought joy and personality wherever she went. 
 
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband Marty, daughter Lisa Herlihy, son in law Michael, two cherished granddaughters Lily and Charlotte and many nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her beloved son Michael, her parents, two sisters, and a brother. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved and missed so dearly. 
 
Elizabeth will be remembered for her remarkable intellect, infectious laughter, impeccable style, and, above all, her boundless love for her family. She lived life with intelligence, humor, and a lot of sparkle, leaving behind memories as unforgettable as she was. 

Calling hours will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 4 PM - 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 10 am at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, La Grangeville, NY followed by committal service at St. Denis Cemetery.
