Elizabeth Leigh March, a longtime resident of Dutchess County, died at the Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill on Monday, February 1, 2016. She was 90.
Daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Ulmer) Keefe, she was born in Buffalo on July 11, 1925.
“Betsy”, as she was known, was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Fishkill. She volunteered for many years at the Elant in Fishkill, bringing joy to the residents. She was also an avid bridge player.
On June 1, 1944, she married Walter Franklin March in DeRidder, LA. Mr. March survives at home.
Other survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Kohut & her husband Fred of Cold Spring; her daughter, Rachel Freeman of Thomasville, GA; her son, Glenn March & his wife Karen of Fishkill; her grandchildren, Oren David, Evan Freeman, Alma Freeman & her husband Emil Meek, Casey Duchesne & her husband James, Devon Wright & her husband Michael, Quinn Kohut, and Connor March; her great-granddaughter, Arden Lux Meek; her sister, Janice Fryer & her husband Raymond of Sudbury, MA; and many other loving relatives & friends.
Betsy was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin David.
She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her friends and family.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, February 5 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
