Elizabeth "Betty" D'Alessandro Marks went home to Jesus and happily joined her sweetheart Don on July 12, 2024. Betty was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 5, 1935 to Margaret O'Day D'Alessandro Reinhardt and Joseph D'Alessandro.
Betty retired from the US Bankruptcy Court in Poughkeepsie and was formerly employed by the Wappingers Central School District and General Electric in Schenectady and Johnson City. Betty was a member of the Great Tuesday Golf Group as well as an avid Girl Scout leader of a Brownie Troop. Betty was also a member of the Center for Lifetime Study (CLS) through Marist College. She was an active member of the East Fishkill Fire District as well as a life member of the Support Group. "Bingo Betty'', as she was lovingly called, volunteered as a bingo worker for many years for the Hillside Lake Fire Company. She also served as the past secretary for the Hillside Lake Property Owners Association.
On May 30, 1954, Betty married her high school sweetheart, Don Marks, who predeceased her on May 13, 2015. Don and Betty loved to travel together, play golf, and visit flea markets.
Betty leaves her very loved daughters, Kelly E. Pomarico and her husband Greg. Tracey A. Marks; her son-on-law, Peter Caragliano; her five fabulous grandchildren, Scott Glazer and wife Melissa, Gina Glazer Hinton and husband Jim, Jonathan Pomarico, Danielle Pomarico and partner Mike Nobile, Elizabeth Marks. Great-grandchildren, Scott Jr., Andrew , Evan and Jacob Glazer, Emma and Nicholas Hinton, Lenox Smith. Her sisters, Anngela Rusik and husband Ron, Michelle Nulton and husband Dan; her sister-in-law, Linda Zacharewicz and husband Stan; and many special friends here in N.Y. and snowbird friends in Cape Canaveral, FL where they loved to winter.
In addition to her husband, Betty was also sadly predeceased by her daughter Carolee Glazer Caragliano and her son-in-law Nils Glazer.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 26 from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, July 27 at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hillside Lake Fire Company or the East Fishkill Rescue Squad.
