Ellen Pauline Kallmeyer, daughter of Paul and Ruth (Kraft) Gallo, was born on February 14, 1947 and passed away early Saturday Morning, August 26, 2023, peacefully after a long illness. She is survived by her sons, Ryan Kallmeyer of Wappingers Falls, NY and Kraig Kallmeyer of Poughkeepsie, NY.

Ellen was a resident Westerly, RI and formerly of Fishkill, NY. She loved the ocean, but her heart had always remained in the Hudson Valley.

Ellen was born in Long Island and received a master's degree in special education from SUNY Buffalo. She was instrumental in the foundation of the special education department of Carmel Central School District, where she touched the lives of many students and colleagues. As a young woman, Ellen traveled through Europe, and enjoyed the more sophisticated things in life. She will be remembered for her love of fashion, furs and everything fabulous. She was a worldly woman who enjoyed art and delicious foods and was connoisseur of sushi and fine chocolates.

Her hobbies included gardening and volunteering. She was always gifted with a green thumb. She was a former dedicated Rotarian and was a talented quilt designer.

Lovingly, she will be remembered as "Grandma Beach". Ellen's memory will be carried on by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Kallmeyer, Clare Kallmeyer, Jack Kallmeyer, Dave Kallmeyer, Karson Shirley, Kamara Shirley and the late Kordila Shirley.
