Ellie B. McGeary, a Fishkill resident since 1965 and formerly of Brooklyn, passed away on Sunday, the third of November 2024, in Murrells Inlet, SC. She was 97.

Daughter of the late John and Mary Ann (Kilmurray) Mollaghan, she was born in County Longford, Ireland on January 1, 1927. Ellie emigrated to the United States at the age of 22. On June 23, 1951, she married Kevin McGeary at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her husband on May 9, 2007.

Ellie was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and was active with the Fishkill Senior Center. She was also a member of the Kevin Barry Irish Club.

Survivors include her daughters: Maureen DeKaser of Germantown NY, Kathleen Vincitore of Murrells Inlet SC, Margaret Cox of Surfside Beach SC, and Sheila Mirabilio & her husband Joseph of Marco Island FL; her only son, Kevin J. McGeary & his wife Mary of Fishkill NY; her grandchildren, Armond DeKaser of Bethesda MD , Evan DeKaser (Brooke) of Venice Ca, Rachel Vincitore of Virginia Beach VA, Michael Vincitore (Jennifer) of South Salem NY, Ashley Oliver (Jordan) of Minneapolis MN, Amanda Price

(Stephen) of Denver CO, Shannon Mirabilio of Marco Island FL, Crystal Mirabilio of Marco Island FL, Adrian Conner of Marco Island FL, Kevin T. McGeary of Breckenridge CO, and Grant McGeary of Beacon NY; her great-grandchildren, Tabor, Sofia, John Patrick, Luís, Liberty, Raymond, Easton, Emerson, Aiden, Marilyn,Peter, Zoe, and Norah; her siblings, Margaret Maguire and Michael Mollaghan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ellie was also predeceased by her siblings, Kathleen Mollaghan (WWII), Mary Mollaghan ( WWII), Patrick Mollaghan, Francis Mollaghan, Elizabeth O'Gorman, Sr. Bridget Mollaghan, James Mollaghan; her son-in-law, Brendan Cox (2014); her granddaughter, Heidi Cox (2015).

Ellie spent her last several years at Legacy Village of Murrells Inlet Senior Living. We would like to extend our heartfelt and sincere thanks and gratitude to all the staff and employees for helping Ellie enjoy her sunset years.

Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
