Obituary

Fishkill- Elmer "Les" Andrew, Loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, was a twelve-year resident of Fishkill, NY, but long-time resident of West Peabody, MA, passed away on December 25, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. He was 97 years young and will be missed. Les was born in Malden, MA on August 18, 1924, the son of John and Katherine (Finlayson) Andrew. Les proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy between 1943 - 1953, as a radio operator, in the Asiatic - Pacific theatre upon the USS Midway, and his European - African tour was aboard the USS Wake Island, World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal - 3 Stars, Philippine-Liberation Medal. On July 14, 1956 Les married Edith Otis. Edith passed away on October 18, 2021. Les was lost without his long-time love. Les was employed by C.I. Brink Sign Company of Boston, Sylvania Electric Company of Boston, and Retired from Raytheon Technologies in North Andover. Les was a Ham Radio Operator, he loved to take out his sailboat in Salem Harbor, enjoyed his beekeeping club, enjoyed calligraphy and watercolor, He had also attended Wagner's Sign Painting School in Boston Mass. Les is survived by his son and daughter -in- law Paul and Darene Andrew of Fishkill, NY, grandchildren Glen and Danielle Andrew, Suzanne and Jeremy Henderson, Michelle and Broderic Walshe and Leanne Andrew, great-grandchildren Raelynn Andrew, Gabriel, Elijah, Jeremiah and Olivia Henderson. Sister in laws: Beverly Whitehorn and Alma Andrew. Several nieces and nephews and their children to two generations. In addition to his wife Edith, Les is predeceased by his mother and father John and Kathleen Andrew, sisters Ethna (& Levitt) Beals, Thelma (& Stanly) Clark, and brothers "Ted" John Andrew, "Roy" Nathaniel (& Gladys) Andrew. A graveside service with Military Honors will take place on December 30, 2021, at 1215PM at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in West Peabody, MA where Les will be reunited with his wife of sixty-five years, Edith. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill Inc. 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY.
