Eloise Elizabeth Stewart, a lifelong area resident, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Wingate at Dutchess.

Born in Beacon on June 1, 1921, she was the daughter of Louis and Ethel Dell Westfall. Eloise graduated from Beacon High School and later from Krissler Business Institute. She was employed as a bookkeeper at several local businesses before retiring from Beacon Looms. After retirement, Eloise and Ray traveled through Europe, China, Russia, and Egypt. Eloise was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beacon, and the Tuesday night bridge club which was formed in the 1940's. Gardening and playing the slot machines were also favorite past times for her.

Eloise was predeceased by her husband, former Police Chief of Beacon, Raymond Stewart. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Robert Palmer of Poughquag; and her grandchildren, Aimee and Mike Adamski of Marshall, VA, Robin and Jeanna Palmer of Beacon, and Ryan Palmer of Beacon.

Private graveside services will be held at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
