EAST FISHKILL - Elsie Hermann, 90, an area resident for over 34 years, died on September 25, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She previously lived in Yonkers.

Elsie was born on January 5, 1934 in England and immigrated to the United States in 1963. She retired in 1990 from St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers where she was a Nurse's Aide. On September 10, 1955 in England, she married Stefan J. Hermann who predeceased her in 2007.

Along with her family, Elsie was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. She enjoyed knitting and attending penny socials. She loved going on shopping trips with her senior friends through Dial-a-Ride. More than anything, she cherished the time she spent with her family.

Elsie is survived by her sons and their wives, Graham and Patricia Hermann and Michael and Clare Hermann; her granddaughter, Victoria MacDonald and her husband Travis; her great-grandchildren, Bennett and Hunter MacDonald; her brothers, Robert Pursglove and his wife Sheila and Reginald Pursglove; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Elsie was also predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Elsie Pursglove.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 30th from 4 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Tuesday, October 1st at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
