Elwood Herbert Macy III, a resident of Friendswood, TX since 2024 and previously of Fishkill, for the first 18 years of his life, Hughsonville, NY, Shell Knob, Missouri, and Chester, TX passed away in Webster, TX on Saturday, May 3, 2025. He was 87 years old.

E. Herbert was born in Beacon, NY on December 7, 1937, to Elwood and Virginia (Millholland) Macy. On September 14, 1956, he married the love of his life, Constance Mae Phillips at the Shenandoah Baptist Church. He grew up valuing hard work and loved to help other people. He worked as a research chemist for Texaco and IBM and was recognized for several patents while at IBM.

Boats were a lifelong love, and he was the Commodore of the New Hamburg Yacht Club for several years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Hughsonville and an active member of the East Fishkill Historical Society. He loved to be surrounded by friends and family and especially appreciated the prayers of everyone during his lengthy battle with cancer.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Constance Macy and their three daughters, Sharon Kirkes and her husband, Myron of Orange Park, FL, Cindy Coulombe and her husband, Raymond, of Milan, NH, and Jennifer Mijangos and her husband, Jose, of Friendswood, TX; his grandchildren, Jessica Kane (Matthew), Leane Rexford, Marjorie Dinc (Abdullah), Veronica Kirkes, Natalie Kirkes, Octavio Mijangos and Talia Milangos Garza (Juan); his beloved pet, Ashley; his brother James Macy and his sister Virginia Renschen and her husband, Patrick.

He was predeceased by his son, Elwood Herbert " Skipper" Macy IV.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 10:00 am at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
