The beloved Emmanius J. Casimir, 93, died peacefully at his home on December 9, 2021.
Born in Plaine-du-Nord, Haiti on June 9, 1928, he was the son of Emanuel and Survina (Exavien) Casimir.
After his schooling, Emmanius worked at the National Bank of Haiti, where his integrity and work ethic allowed him to quickly rise through the ranks. After 30 years, he retired from the National Bank of Haiti as a respected bank director.
Emmanius married in 1958 and was a loyal husband and devoted father.
After the death of his wife, he moved to the United States to be closer to his children and grandchildren. To keep himself active, the retired bank director began working as a cashier for A&P Supermarket in LaGrange. He walked to work every day (rain or shine) and captured the hearts of his co-workers and customers with his vibrant and jovial nature.
Throughout his life, Emmanius remained an avid reader, lover of music, and philanthropist. He will be forever remembered as a hardworking, dedicated, faithful and loving man of God.
Emmanius was predeceased by his wife, Irene Gauthier Casimir on March 14, 1991. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Eric and Marie-Eliette Casimir, and Marilyne and James Herivaux; six prized granddaughters, eleven cherished siblings and many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 11 am -1pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 1pm. In adherence with CDC guidelines, all attendees must wear face coverings and stay home if they are ill. Advance COVID-19 testing is strongly suggested.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
