In Loving Memory
Erika Kaye
March 21, 1939 - October 24, 2026
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on October 24, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on March 21, 1939, she lived a remarkable life defined by independence, determination, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of animals. Long before it was common for women to own and operate businesses, she forged her own path as a true trailblazer. Her entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, and fearless determination inspired everyone who knew her.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother to four children, a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren, and a proud great-grandmother to one great-grandchild.
Throughout her life, she devoted herself to the care and well-being of animals. As a respected breeder of Himalayan cats and German Shepherds, her passion extended beyond breeding, as she spent much of her career championing animal welfare and serving as a voice for those who could not speak for themselves.
Known for her strength, resilience, and independent nature, she never hesitated to stand up for what she believed in. She approached life with courage, determination, and grace, leaving a lasting impression on countless people and animals whose lives she touched.
Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the animals she cared for, and the many lives she enriched through her kindness, advocacy, and pioneering spirit.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her sister, Ingi; her children, Dietrich (with his partner Claudia), Karl (with his partner Mary), Renate, and Paul (with his partner Sue); her grandchildren, Kristi, Karli, John, and Hannah; her great-grandchild, Sylas.
"A life dedicated to caring for others leaves a legacy that never fades."
May she rest in peace. ❤️
