Erika Kovacs, 58, a resident of the Town of East Fishkill since 1993 and formerly of Yonkers, died on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Budapest, Hungary on February 6, 1955, she was the daughter of Margaret Butola Mezei and the late Janos Mezei. She was employed in the food court at BJ's Wholesale Club in Wappingers Falls.
On March 16, 1987 in New Rochelle, Erika married Istvan Kovacs who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughter, Krisztina Kovacs; her mother, Margaret of Hungary; her sister, Marika Pernicone of Tucson, AZ; and her brother, Csaba Mezei of Hungary.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2-4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will follow at 4pm with Rev. Keith Tamlyn officiating.
