Wappingers Falls – Ernest William Wessel, age 75, passed away on January 26, 2022 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. He was born on November 12, 1946 in New Rochelle, NY to George and Margaret (Williams) Wessel.

Ernest worked as a butcher for Grand Union before his retirement. In his spare time, he loved traveling, fishing, playing cards and darts, working on jigsaw puzzles, and going to casinos with his friends. He also enjoyed cooking and barbequing.

He is survived by his beloved children: Keith Wessel of New Rochelle, NY, Jeffrey Wessel of Pelham, NY, and Donna Wessel of Bethany, CT; loving stepsons: Joseph Vasillo (Michelle) of Wappingers Falls, NY, and Paul Vasillo (Marybeth) of Fishkill, NY; grandchildren: Kayla and Jake Wessel of Houston, TX, Nicolette Vasillo of Wappingers Falls, NY, Anabelle and Ethan Vasillo of Fishkill, NY; great granddaughter Hailey of Houston, TX; siblings Caryl Nuzzo (John) of Mt. Kisco, NY, Gwen Baez (Harry) of Riverside, CT, Bruce Wessel (Joyce) of N. Attleboro, MA, and Craig Wessel (Antoinette) of Maspeth, NY.

Ernest was predeceased by his beloved wife Lenora Wessel, his stepson Peter Vasillo, his sister Patricia Colombo, and brothers Kenneth and Donald Wessel.

Donations may be made in Ernest's memory to the Beacon Animal Rescue Foundation.
