Obituary

Erving James Ford, 78, a resident of Brooklyn since 1958 and formerly of Pawleys Island, SC, passed away on April 13, 2020 at Phelps Memorial Hospital

Born in Pawleys Island, SC on August 25, 1941, he was the son of John Blye and Maggie Jane Ford. Erving had been employed as a Letter Carrier for USPS Branch 36 in the Bronx. Erving was a great man, respected and loved by all he encountered. He was very generous and willing to help anyone in need. He was well known for his candid but sage advice with a hint of humor. He had an infectious laugh and an even greater smile. He will be dearly missed by all who are left to mourn him.

On March 24, 1973 in Brooklyn, Erving married Beulah Sankar who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Beverly Ford of Brooklyn, Tracy Collins and her husband Robert of Westbury, and Stacy Ford of Fairburn, GA; his grandchildren, Kindra Ford, Whitney Carmichael, Ahmad Nicholls, and Shane Smith; his great-grandchildren, Na'Riya Nicholls, Kaylyn Hewitt, Eden Louis, Elan Louis, and Cairo Mayers;his siblings, Margaret Syndab, Carlethia and Vernon Jenkins, Howard and Sheila Blye; and his in-laws, Archie and Angela Sankar, Joyce Simon, Neville Sankar, Bernice and Lloyd King. He also leaves behind a large numbers of nieces, nephews and friends - too many to list individually.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his children, Gregory Ford and Dacia Bacchus; and his siblings, Herman Ford, Caribel Johnson, Michael Ford and Anna Mae Grate.
