Obituary

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Erwin J. Otero, 41, passed away at home on March 5, 2021. A resident of Hopewell Junction for 7 years, he previously lived in Poughkeepsie.

Erwin loved with all his heart. He was kind and compassionate. He would do anything for anyone regardless of what he had going on. If you lived in our neighborhood and came home to find your grass mowed or the leaves gone it was Erwin. He loved vacationing with his family. From Lake Sacandaga to family reunions in Florida and cruises together, Erwin was always up for an adventure. Erwin loved his children, Madison and Jackson, beyond measure. He enjoyed teaching them how to fix things and he loved being on the beach with them in the summer. He loved boating and anything with wheels-whether he was fixing something or riding.

Born in Yonkers on December 7, 1979, Erwin was the son of the late Jose Otero and Raquel Ortiz. He was self-employed in the real estate/construction industry. Throughout his life he could walk into any situation and figure out how to fix things from a flat tire to a boat engine to a car. He had an amazing ability to recognize a problem, visualize the solution and solve the problem even if he had never done it before.

On August 18, 2006 in New Windsor, Erwin married Christine (Clarke) Otero who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Madison Elizabeth and Jackson Jose; his siblings, Elizabeth Vazquez, Ana Ayala, Marilyn Ortiz, Heriberto Ayala, Evelyn Otero Russell, and Miguel Otero and his wife Jackie; his mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Michele and Leo Saari and Michael and Emeline Clarke; his brothers-in-law, Michael Clarke, Jr., Eric Saari, and Daniel Saari; his best friend, Anthony M. Nappi and his wife Jes; his dog, Kasey; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Erwin has been reunited with his brother, Jose Otero Jr. and his sister, Dianna Otero Lopez and his parents.
