WAPPINGERS FALLS – Esther (Essie Nona) Peterman, 92, an area resident since 2000, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 19, 2023 at her home.

She previously lived in Queens, Scarsdale, NY, and Fairfield, CT. Born on August 29, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, Essie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Tomasetti) Prisco. On October 3, 1953, in Brooklyn, she married the love of her life, Allen Peterman, who predeceased her in 2002.

She found joy in the simple things in life- family, cooking, sharing her favorite recipes, sewing, knitting, gardening, watching old movies, and listening to big-band music. Essie also loved to dance. More than anything, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with all of them.

Essie is survived by her children, Mona Peterman, Allan Peterman and his wife Gloria, Damian Peterman, Richard Peterman and his wife Marianne, Norma Peterman and her husband Glen Albanese, Jennifer Tallent and her husband Tom, Kerstan Peterman and his wife Grace, Suzanne Bedell and her husband Keith, and son-in-law, Bob Young; her grandchildren, James, Nicholas, Jeremiah, Allan Jr., Damian, Christopher, Shane, Myles, Angel, Elijah, Gianna, Luke, Henry, Casey, Lea, Patrick, Ryan, Ariana, Lauren, Allen, Robert, and Kyla; her great-grandchildren, James, Joey, Riley, Christopher, Shyan, Damian III, Harlem, Jaxon, and Vincenzo; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. And Essie's many grand-pups, including Arlo, Josie, and Boden - they gave her faithful love and devotion - and enjoyed all of the eggs, toast, meatballs, and snacks she shared with them.

In addition to her husband and parents, Essie was predeceased by her daughter, Emma Young, her grandchild, Ahmet, her daughter-in-law, Patricia Peterman, and her siblings, Josephine (Pina) Vaccaro, Gino Prisco and Norma Imperato.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 22, from 10 – 11 a.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction (https://www.google.com/maps/search/895+Route+82,+Hopewell+Junction?entry=gmail&source=g). A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 11:30 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction (https://www.google.com/maps/search/602+Beekman+Road,+Hopewell+Junction?entry=gmail&source=g) followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
