Obituary

Eugene Nicholas Luciano, 83, an area resident since 1979 and formerly of the Bronx, died on August 25, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Manhattan on July 24, 1939, he was the son of Nicholas Pompei and Incornata (Tucciarielli) Luciano. Gene proudly served our country in the US Army Reserve as a Supply Sergeant for the Quartermasters, 2nd Corps. Gene had been a member of the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie, Elks Lodge #2609, and NYS Fraternal Order of Police #188.

On October 9, 1988 in Poughquag, Gene married JoAnn Molino who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Nicholas and Karen Luciano, Anthony Patrick and Stephanie Luciano, Michelle and Matt Flynn, Doreen Molino Paesano and Danielle Molino Kenney; his grandchildren, Nina, Rachel, Alicia, Emily, Michael, Brooke, Nicole, and Daniel; his great-grandchildren, Cameron and Carter; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gene, as he was affectionately known to all, loved the NY Yankees and being with his family. He loved to share stories of his life in the Bronx and could talk for hours over a good, homemade Italian meal. His happiest place was watching a game while surrounded by his family. He enjoyed many years of trips to St Martin with JoAnn and just sitting at the bar, schmoozing with all the ladies. He owned Apple Valley Flowers for over 27 years and considered many customers his friends. He was a super talented floral designer, always amazing his co-workers at Adams Fairacre Farms in Poughkeepsie with his speed and ease of creating such beautiful arrangements. He was an accomplished drummer playing in both jazz and wedding bands and also for the Westchester Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band. Gene was a proud member of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Department Tactical Squad. He liked to share stories of protecting people and working the Dutchess County Fair.

His family will miss him terribly, especially his toy poodle, Chanel. We are grateful for all the neighbors, friends and family that have reached out to us with love, support and condolences.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA.
