Evan Davidson, an IBM engineer and cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on June 24, 2024. He was a resident of Hopewell Junction, NY.
Born in Brooklyn in 1941 and raised in Valley Stream on Long Island, Evan's life was marked by a lifelong passion for innovation and excellence. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for his undergraduate studies and earned his master's degree from New York University. It was during his first job at Bell Labs in New Jersey where he met his wife of 61 years, Judy Davidson.
Evan's illustrious career spanned 34 years at IBM, where he rose to the rank of Distinguished Engineer. He was globally recognized for his pioneering contributions to microchip and electronics packaging design, earning him both patents and admiration and respect within his field.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Evan was known for his practical skills and ability to fix anything around the house. Whether it was a leaky faucet or a malfunctioning appliance, Evan was the go-to person for family and friends. He treasured his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Judy Davidson; his daughters, Keri Lawrence of Chapel Hill, NC, and Lisa Davidson of New York, NY; and his grandchildren, Jacob Lawrence, Sophie Lawrence, and Ben Goldberg.
Evan will be remembered for his intellect, professional accomplishments, and unwavering dedication to his family. His legacy of innovation and helpfulness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
