Evelyn Gonzalez, a Wappingers Falls resident since 1995 and formerly of the Bronx, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 61.

She was born in the Bronx, one of nine siblings, on August 22, 1960. Evelyn worked for several employers throughout her career, and retired from the Dutchess County Public Defender Office, where she served as an intake specialist.

Evelyn will be remembered for her selfless, generous, and caring spirit. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own and maintained a positive outlook on life regardless of any challenges she faced. She enjoyed taking scenic drives, going shopping, and many other hobbies. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with those she loved.

On June 1, 1992, she married Wilfredo Gonzalez in the Bronx. Wilfredo survives at home in Wappingers Falls.

Additional survivors include her daughter, Jazmine Solero of the Bronx; her grandchildren, Samantha, Joseph, Destiny, and Kar'mel; her mother, Ana DeJesus of the Bronx; as well as many siblings and other relatives & friends.

Evelyn was predeceased by her son, Joseph Virella; her grandson, Josiah Virella; her father, Jose Virella; and several siblings.

Services were held privately, with entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
