Evelyn DeCarlo O'Brien

Fishkill - FISHKILL - Evelyn DeCarlo O'Brien, 86, a resident of Fishkill, entered into eternal rest on August 12, 2011 at the Elant at Fishkill.

Born in Manhattan on July 26, 1925, she was daughter of the late John and Jane Casey DeCarlo. She was predeceased by her brothers John Jr. and Thomas.

Evelyn graduated from Mother Cabrini High School in New York City and Woods Secretarial School. She was employed by National Distillers in New York City as an administrative assistant for over 20 years. She loved commuting on the train to work, reading and socializing with her friends. After moving from Bronxville to Fishkill, she enjoyed starting her day at the Convenient Deli Mart where she soon met a new circle of friends. A strong Catholic, Evelyn was a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.

A resident of the Elant at Fishkill, she was loved and cared for by the entire staff and fellow residents. The nursing staff nicknamed Evelyn "Happy Feet".

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Gammone & her husband Louis as well as two grandsons, Christopher and Vincent. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Evelyn will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
