FISHKILL – Everett Dewey McIlwee, Jr., 73, a lifelong area resident, died on July 21, 2021 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation.

Born in Poughkeepsie on November 26, 1947, Everett was the son of the late Everett and Rosanna (Crawford) McIlwee, Sr. He was a 1965 graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School.

As the son of a father who served in both WWI and WWII and a mother who served as a Lieutenant in the Navy during WWII, Everett followed in his parents' footsteps by proudly serving in the US Navy for 2 tours in Vietnam.

Everett was employed as a programmer at IBM for over 30 years until his retirement. He was an active member of the Fishkill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and missions chairman. He was an avid rail fan, and met several friends over the years with this similar interest. He enjoyed history and photography, and especially liked capturing pictures of railroads.

On August 29, 1970 in Newburgh, Everett married Donna (Henderson) McIlwee who survives at home after 50 years of marriage. He is also survived by his sons, Scott McIlwee and his wife Barbara of Hopewell Junction, Christopher McIlwee of Fishkill, Donde McIlwee and his wife Shana of Pleasant Valley, and Daniel McIlwee of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Brittany, Kathryn, Tristin, Gavin, and Fiona; his sister, Linda Anderson, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 30th from 5-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 31st at 11 am at the Fishkill Baptist Church, 107 Route 82, Fishkill followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery with military honors.
