EAST FISHKILL – Faith Hope Bate, 81, a lifelong area resident, died at home surrounded by her family on August 20, 2024.
Born in Cold Spring on December 21, 1942, Faith was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (Taylor) Tomlins, Jr.
She was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, Shenandoah and a Board Member of Shenandoah Cemetery. Faith was a member of the Wiccopee Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
On January 7, 1961 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Beacon, she married Albert E. Bate, III who survives at home after 63 years of marriage. Faith is also survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy and Thomas Jackson and Elizabeth and Don Smith; her son-in-law, William Jackson and his wife Mary; her grandchildren, Karla Smith, Adam Jackson, Erin Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Aleasha Jackson, Ashley Grant, Carianne Jackson, Thomas Jackson, Jr., Cassandra Haefka, Steven Smith, Donald Smith, Jr., and Brittney Smith; 15 great-grandchildren; her brother, Henry “Skip” Tomlins; and many nieces and nephews, especially Kathleen Plumer, who she heled raise.
In addition to her parents, Faith was also predeceased by her daughter, Joann Bate Jackson; her two grandbabies; and 3 siblings.
The family would like to thank the 5N staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, along with the staff from Hudson Valley Hospice for their care and compassion.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 11 am at Bethel Baptist Church, 512 Shenandoah Road, Hopewell Junction, NY, 12533. Burial will follow at Shenandoah Cemetery.
