Reverend Ferdinand Rivera Jr., age 69, of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025 at home. Born in New York City, Ferdinand was the son of Raquel and Ferdinand Rivera. He graduated from Gompers High school and went on to work as a court clerk for the NYS Unified Court System, retiring in 2019. He studied at NYS school of the Bible. He became a licensed minister and briefly co-pastored the Light bearers Christian Fellowship in the Bronx. He then served as a minister for the Council of the Damascus Christian Churches where he served as a Presbyter as well as a teacher for their Bible Institute.

Ferdinand is survived by his wife of 46 years, Abigail, his children, Rebecca, Christine and Ferdinand Richard, 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction from 5 -9 pm with a funeral service at 7 pm.

Ferdinand affectionately called Fred, or Freddy was known for his sense of humor, his big heart, dedication to his family, his faith in Christ and his love for the word of God. He was an avid sports fan, loyal to the NY Mets, Jets and Knicks. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the hospice staff for their care and compassion during his last days.
