Fernando Santos Cardoso, 68, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 8 years and formerly of Lake Carmel, died on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal on March 27, 1943, he was the son of Valerio and Filomena Cardoso. He was the owner and operator of F.C. Machinery, LLC in Milford, CT. Fernando was a member of the Portuguese Cultural Club. He loved the game of soccer and he enjoyed coaching his three children's teams throughout their childhood years. Fernando was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by everyone.
On February 7, 1970, Fernando married Isabel Pina who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Carla Bukovich and her husband Frank of Stormville, Ricardo Cardoso of Elmsford and Valerio Cardoso of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Carlos, Marcel, Nichelle and April; his siblings, Luciano, Fernanda, Lurdes, Antonio and Ceu; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
