HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Florence Angerosa, a local area resident for 45 years and formerly of Islip, Long Island, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 97.
Daughter of the late Frank and Matilda (DeGaetano) Drago, she was born in New York City on June 17, 1924. For many years, Florence worked as a sales associate for JC Penney in Bay Shore, NY.
She enjoyed many hobbies such as knitting, crocheting, as well as playing the electric organ and guitar. She was an accomplished amateur artist and was proud to have her paintings on display. Florence was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church and volunteered at the Nifty Thrifty thrift store in Fishkill.
She'll be remembered for her outgoing personality and her uncanny ability to make friends with anyone in her presence.
On June 17, 1945, she married Anthony D. Angerosa at St. Francis of Paola Church in Brooklyn. Anthony predeceased Florence on December 30, 2014.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Camille and Dr. Louis Colletti, D.D.S. of Hopewell Junction; her granddaughters and their husbands, Amy T. and Jeffrey Holmes of Newtown, CT and Heather L. and Paul Houde of Newtown, CT; her great-grandchildren, Ava Rose Holmes and Ryan Benjamin Houde; her sister, Anna Maria Vigliarolo of Smithtown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Florence was also predeceased by her brother, James Drago.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 2 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. immediately following visitation. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery in Long Island.
