Florence E. DeGaetani, 88, a resident of Fishkill for 22 years and formerly of Crestwood, passed on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in the Bronx on January 25, 1926, she was the daughter of Harry and Teresa Pappalau Weeks. Florence was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and a member of the Fishkill Seniors. She enjoyed playing Bingo, but more than anything she loved her family.
On November 13, 1948 at St. Peter and Paul Church in the Bronx, Florence married Richard DeGaetani who predeceased her on April 22, 1978. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard J. and Elizabeth DeGaetani of Yorktown Heights, Diane and Rusty Gower of Avon, CT and Susan and Brian Tocco of LaGrangeville; her grandchildren, Marisa and Bill Spencer, Richard and Valerie DeGaetani, Nicholas Gower, Jessica Gower, Christopher Tocco and Scott Tocco; her great-grandson, Nicholas Spencer; and her sister, Grace Leinhard of Jefferson Valley.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.
