Frances A. Chesley, 91, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1958 and formerly of Yonkers, died on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, after being compassionately cared for at The Pines of Poughkeepsie.
Born in Yonkers on September 3, 1923, she was the daughter of Andrew and Katherine Klauser Murphy. Fran was employed by the Wappingers Central School District for many years where she held the title of being the oldest working cafeteria aide. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Columba Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She was also a member of the Third Order Dominicans, Altar Rosary Society and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a summer employee for many years with the East Fishkill Recreation Department as the Arts and Crafts Instructor.
On December 29, 1942 in Fort Benning, GA, Frances married Charles E. Chesley who predeceased her on November 12, 2007. She is survived by her children, Tom Chesley of FL, Raymond Chesley and his wife Cathy of NJ, Nancy Norris of Westchester County, Shaun Chesley and his wife Linda of Poughkeepsie, Maureen Burchfield and her husband David of Beekman, and Peggi Rolleri and her husband Donald of Clinton Corners; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews she held close to her heart. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Chesley.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
