WAPPINGERS FALLS – Frances Theresa Classey, a Wappingers Falls resident since 1961 and formerly of Yonkers, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. She was 92.
Daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Petrucco) Toppi, she was born in Yonkers on February 23, 1930. Fran graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers in 1948. She worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Barry Abrahamson in Fishkill and also served as a Teacher's Aide at Fishkill Elementary School. She was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. Fran loved to travel, but her most precious times were spent with her family and friends.
On September 23, 1951, she married Thomas J. Classey at Christ the King Church in Yonkers. She was predeceased by her husband on November 15, 2009.
Survivors include her son, Michael Classey & his wife Monica of Poughkeepsie; her son, Thomas Classey & his wife Carol of New Windsor; her daughter, Kathleen Rexhouse & her husband Brian of Wappingers Falls; her son, John Classey & his wife Cindy of Highland; her daughter, Eileen Martell & her husband Les of Murrells Inlet, SC; her son, Scott Classey & his wife Jill of Newburgh; her son, James Classey & his wife Jeanine of Gaylordsville, CT; her son, Timothy Classey & his wife Pam of Holly Springs, NC; her grandchildren: Eric Classey & his wife Amanda of Saugerties, Jessica Ashback & her husband Anthony of Poughkeepsie, James Classey & his wife Julie of Ridgefield, CT, Brian Rexhouse of Champaign, IL, Thomas Rexhouse and his wife Michelle of Wappingers Falls, Caitlyn Classey of Highland, Sean Martell of Jacksonville, FL, Patrick Martell of Raleigh, NC, Will Classey of Newburgh, Heather Classey of Gaylordsville, CT, Ryan Classey of Gaylordsville, CT, Samantha Classey of Gaylordsville, CT, Taylor Classey of Gaylordsville, CT, Kayla Classey of Garner, NC, and Kylie Classey of Wilmington, NC; her great-grandsons: Jayce Ashback, Dean Ashback, Lucas Rexhouse, Levi Rexhouse, and Enzo Rinaldi; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Fran was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Toppi and her sister, Florence Buffone. She was recently predeceased by her longtime partner, Gabe Pasquale.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Section A8, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
