Frances Slayton, 102, of Wappingers Falls, passed away on October 24, 2021.
She was born on August 10, 1919 in New York City, the second of four daughters of Eva (Nagle) and James Oates. Frances grew up in Manhattan. Frances and her husband George married in 1942 and moved to the Hudson Valley in 1951, and they lived the rest of their lives in Wappingers Falls. George passed away in 2017. They were married for 75 years.
Mrs. Slayton is survived by her five children: Ron Slayton of Port St. Lucie, FL, Dennis Slayton of Hopewell Junction, NY, Richard Slayton of Wappingers Falls, NY, Joanne De Forest of Brooklyn, NY and Patty and her husband Steve Albury of Poughkeepsie, NY. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Matthew Slayton in New Hampshire, Robert Slayton in Massachusetts and Jacob Wolpin in Arizona; and four great-grandchildren: Victoria, Catherine, Michael and Daniel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved and enjoyed so much. Frances loved her family; nothing was more important to her.
Frances Slayton was a much loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister and aunt. She lived a long and happy life. She loved the Hudson Valley especially in autumn - the beautiful colors, and the abundant and varied wildlife. She also loved her trips to Florida to escape the winter.
Frances was a woman of faith so a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, November 6 at 10am at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Please visit Frances' Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
