Frances A. "Nancy" Ventura (also known to many as "Granny"), of Fishkill, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer on May 9, 2012 in Orlando, FL. She was 87.
Born in Chatham, NY on February 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Peg Hoffman. On September 30, 1945, Nancy married the love of her life, Angelo "Pete" Ventura. After 52 years of marriage, she was predeceased by her husband on June 9, 1998.
For eight years, she was employed by the New York State Police at the Troop K barracks in Hawthorne. Nancy then went on to work for IBM in Armonk as a Secretary Specialist. She retired in 1985.
She is survived by her son, Jim Ventura & his wife Robin of Orlando, FL and her daughter, Mary Ellen McCullough & her husband Kenny of Fishkill. Nancy was the devoted grandmother of four, Kelly McCullough of Maryland, Kenny McCullough, Jr. of Hawaii, and Jimmy & Carly Ventura of Florida.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 31 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
