Obituary

Francis Charles Coppola ~ July 8, 1951 -July 16, 2023

Francis "Frank" Charles Coppola, 72, of Long Beach, California, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2023 following a brief illness.

Born in Manhattan, New York, to Ann (Keeley) and James Coppola, Frank grew up in Yonkers, New York. A twin brother to James "Jimmy" Coppola, who predeceased him and a younger brother to Ann Marie DeNicholas (John) who survives him, Frank resided in Long Beach, California for the last 30 years. He was also a long-time resident of the West Village, New York City prior to moving to California.

Frank was a 1969 graduate of Lincoln High School, Yonkers, New York, and attended college in Maine. Before moving to California, Frank started and ran a staffing company in New York City. At the time of his death, he was a property manager, beloved by the many tenants for whom he was responsible.

Frank was the adored uncle to Joseph DeNicholas (Susan), Kathleen DeNicholas (Andrew Tavani) and James Coppola; great-uncle to Blaec (Lauren), Julia, Mason, Alex, Genevieve; and great-great uncle to Harper. Frank was a great friend to many and also leaves behind countless cousins, friends and neighbors. Frank had many dear and life-long friendships, many of whom he considered family including Keith, Jeanette, Bob, Renee, and Susan.

Frank's childhood growing up in Yonkers consisted of constant shenanigans with his twin brother Jimmy. Regularly in minor trouble with their father, the much-loved twins provided family entertainment and kept everyone on their toes. Losing his twin brother, Jimmy, in 1993 was a tremendous loss to Frank. In 1992, Frank moved to Long Beach, where he loved the warm weather and living just a few blocks from the beach. Frank was also a frequent traveler who enjoyed cruising. Above all else, Frank loved his family and friends.

Frank made everyone smile. He was unabashedly funny and quick with a joke which made him everyone's personal favorite. He was adored by his family and friends, all of whom will miss his humor, kind nature and the undeniable fun he brought to every occasion. There are countless "Uncle Frankie" stories - from inadvertently letting the air out of a life raft in Alaska to knocking over martini glasses in a fancy Washington DC bar, but Frank will mostly be remembered for the care and love he gave to those close to him. He will be so dearly missed.

Donations may be made in Frank's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
