HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Francis N. DiMaiolo, 61, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1994 and formerly of Brooklyn, passed away at home on Monday, August 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Brooklyn on November 10, 1952, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Anna (DiCarlo) DiMaiolo. On October 15, 1977 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Brooklyn, Frank married Maureen Theresa Kenny DiMaiolo who survives at home.
In 2008, Frank retired as a Systems Manager for Verizon after 28 years of service in their Pearl River and Manhattan locations. During his retirement, he worked for Weichert Realtors in LaGrangeville and Home Depot in Brewster. Also during his retirement, Frank pursued his love of classic cars, especially his 1949 Ford Coupe. He attended many classic car events where he was known as "Frankie '49" and won numerous awards.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Maureen; his loving children, Danielle DiMaiolo of Brooklyn and Frank DiMaiolo of Brooklyn; his brother, Dominick DiMaiolo and his wife Patricia; his sister, Madelyn Knee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and the extended members of his wife's family.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10 am at Saint Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by burial at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island.
The family would like to thank all of the family, friends, and neighbors who have helped during the past few months. Special thanks to Dr. Ariel Fischer and his dedicated nurses, Tammy and Sue, of the oncology department at Mid-Hudson Medical Group. The family also thanks the staff of Hudson Valley Hospice.
