Francis Gain Jr's Obituary
Francis T. Gain, Jr., a Beacon resident since 1975, died on Sunday, August 11 2013 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla following a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was 70.
Son of the late Francis T. and Mary Joan Smith Gain, he was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 5, 1943. In 1961, Frank enlisted in the United States Navy. He retired from the Navy after 30 years of active and reserve duty as a Hospital Corpsman Master Chief.
Frank was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He had a long career in the electrical products industry before joining Merrill Lynch in 1990, where he worked as a Senior Financial Advisor up until his final days.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon, Past President of the Exchange Club of Southern Dutchess and longtime member of the Chelsea Yacht Club. His hobbies included sailing and reading.
On December 17, 1966, Frank married Janet H. Hoffman in Chambersburg, PA. Janet survives at home in Beacon.
He is also survived by his son, Francis T. Gain III & his wife Melissa of New Jersey; his daughter, Amy C. Cloutier & her husband Charles of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Thomas, Victoria and Emily; his sister, Nancy Gonzalez & her husband Juan of Chile; his sister, Marylu Dadakis & her husband Soph of Connecticut; his sister, Betsy Gross & her husband Jim of Pennsylvania; his sister Ellen Casey & her husband John of Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon. In accordance with his wishes, Frank's cremains will be buried at sea in a service conducted by the U.S. Navy.
