Obituary

Francis (Frank) Sciarra, a long-time resident of Union Vale and more recently of Durham, NC passed away on February 9, 2014 after a long illness. He was 79.

Born in Bethlehem, PA on July 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Sciarra. He served in both the Air Force and the Marines and retired from IBM after 28 years of service. In addition to being a loving husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid gardener who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for cooking and loved to play the piano.

He is survived by Mary, his wife of 52 years; his son Michael Sciarra of Rome; his daughter Juliann Sciarra of Durham, NC; his daughter Janine Miraglia and her husband Matt of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren Tony Sciarra and Kristen Sciarra of Maine; his sister Nancy Steckel and her husband William of Nazareth, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11am at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery in Newburgh with military honors. Semper Fi.
