Franco Paternoster

FISHKILL- Franco Paternoster, a Fishkill resident for the past ten years, formerly of the Bronx and Rockland County, died at home on September 22, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old.

Franco was born to the late Francesco & Angela (Trotta) Paternoster on April 25, 1943, in Gravina in Puglia, Italy. Franco would go on to emigrate to the United States in 1964.

Franco worked hard all his life. He was a Machinist for New York City Transit for many years. He retired from them in 1994. The machinist in him didn't end there. From then on, he had an infatuation for building things.

He was a devoted family man. He loved his wife, sons, and grandchildren deeply and he truly enjoyed all the time spent with them whether it was playing scopa and many other card games or telling funny stories. He even taught some of his sons and grandchildren how to drive.

On September 7, 1967, in Gravina in Puglia, he married the love of his life, Giulia Paternoster, who survives him at home.

Aside from his wife, he is survived by his sons, Frank & his wife Linda, Joe & his wife Caterina, Michael & his wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Frank & his wife Madeline, Jillian, Christopher Joseph, Nicholas, Alexandra, Sienna, Sofia, Joseph; his daughter-in-law Maria; his aunt and uncle, Zia Ninetta & Uncle Vinny; many niece's & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Franco is predeceased by his son Dominick on February 15th, 2022 & his sister Rosa on May 12, 2022.

A visitation will be held on Friday September 25 from 4 to 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Rte. 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday September 26 at 10 am at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY 12524. Immediately following Mass, Entombment will take place at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 US-9, Fishkill, NY 12524.
