HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Frank DiCostanzo, 93, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1960, died peacefully at home on January 20, 2022. He previously lived in the Bronx.
Frank was born in the south Bronx on October 3, 1928 where, as a boy, he worked in his father's shoemaking store. After leaving home, he joined the service and served during WWII. After the war, he built a career as a successful hairdresser — first in New York City and later in Yorktown Heights, Poughkeepsie and then Hopewell. Later in life, after selling his salon business, he opened a small barber shop in Poughquag where he spent time sharing stories with his "regulars." He will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family, his vegetable garden and his home in Hopewell.
On October 22, 1949 on New York City, he married Elena (Conforti) DiCostanzo who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Frank DiCostanzo and his wife Andrea of Syosset; his grandchildren, Caroline DiCostanzo and Matthew DiCostanzo, both of Syosset; and his sister, Mary Betz of West Pittston, PA.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Nicoletta DiCostanzo; his brothers, Ralph, Nicholas and Louis; and his sisters, Rosie and Emily.
Funeral services will be private at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. Please visit his Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
